Rainbow Wahine matches televised on K5

It’s off to the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament for the University of Hawai’i Rainbow Wahine and you’ll be able to catch at least their first and second round matches on K5.
The station has earned the rights to televise the first match and the second one if they advance.
Hawai’i battles Texas State today at 1 p.m. (HST). If they advance, K5 will also air their second round match vs. Texas or Louisiana State at 2:30 p.m. (HST) on Saturday.
Tafiti hits two homeruns
Waimea’s Shana Tafiti (3-5, 1 HR) hit two homeruns against Kapa’a on Wednesday in the KIF softball opener. One of her bombs was credited to teammate Kelsie Igne (2-5, 1 HR), who hit also hit a homer.
KIF softball continues on Saturday, with Kaua’i opening up against Kapa’a in a double-header starting at 2 p.m. The game will be played at Isenberg Field.
Grady leads Swish squeaker
Janessa Grady finished with a game-high eight points as Team Swish squeaked past Kaulupono Girls, 22-21 at the county’s 14 and Under girls basketball league, Wednesday night.
Kelsey Cadiente added seven points to the Swish victory. Bree Ann Cox-Abuan topped Kaulupono Girls’ effort with seven points followed by Natalie Mata finishing with five points.
Jondi Das finished with a game-high 17 points in Wailua’s 33-22 win over Gee’s Angels in the opener. Justine Holt’s 14 points led the Angels’ efforts.
Kaua’i martial arts championships
The 8th Annual Kaua’i Open Martial Arts Championships is set for Dec. 10 at the Kilauea Neighborhood Center, starting at 9 a.m. All styles are welcome to perform. There is a cost of $5 for general admission. For more info., contact Pete at 635-7180.
