Leslie Puuwaialoha Lovell
Leslie Lovell of Henderson, Nev., died on Sept. 27, 2005, at the age of 77.
The son of Enoka Lovell, Jr., and Beatrice Scharsch, he was born and raised on the island of Kaua’i. Leslie graduated from Kaua’i High School in 1946, and worked for 40 years for Young Brothers, Limited, as a stevedore. An active member of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, he served on various union committees during his career.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Beverly Manner. In 1994, he retired, and the couple moved to Henderson, Nev. He is also survived by his daughter, Cheryl (James) Lovell Obatake; grandchildren Kanani (Albert Diego) Lovell-Obatake and Leslie (Brandee Javier) Lovell-Obatake; great-grandchildren Keana Lovell-Obatake, Lanakila Lovell-Obatake, and Kamalewa Diego. In addition, he is also survived by stepdaughter Karen Truitt, and grandchildren Chey, Conner, and Josephine.
A avid fisherman, he loved the ocean, and requested that his ashes be spread at sea. This will be done at a memorial service on Saturday, Nov. 26, at 10 a.m. at Niumalu Beach Park pavilion. Family members request those attending wear casual attire.
