The three-time defending KIF champion Kaua’i football team faced off against the Warriors of Kapa’a three times this season and came away with three wins.
On Friday, November 18 (7:30 p.m.) at Hanapepe Stadium, the Red Raiders hope to find the same success against a different Warrior squad — Kamehameha Maui.
The contest was moved to Hanapepe due to the construction currently being done at tion Vidinha Stadium.
If Kaua’i moves past Kamehameha Maui, they will move into the HHSAA/First Hawaiian Bank State Football Division II semifinals on Nov. 26.
The championship games are set for December 2 at Aloha Stadium. Last year, the Red Raiders romped Pac-3 of Maui and fell in a heart breaker to the eventual state champion, Campbell tual Sabers.
No Kaua’i team has ever won a state football title. Waimea and Kaua’i were semifinalists in the first two years of the division II tournament.
Waimea was also a semifinalist in 1999, 2001, and 2002.
