Just like in their previous matches, the Kalaheo Oreos and the Lihu’e Imua fought hard all the way until the end, with the game only being decided in an extra session.
As the cookie dust settled, the Oreos took the U12 girls championship with a 1-0 win over Imua.
“It was really closely contested. Lihu’e played a really good game,” Kalaheo assistant coach Mark Koehler said.
It took the Oreos two eight-minute overtimes to dispose of the Imua.
The goal was scored in second eight minute overtime by Ku’uleilani Breen.
“That’s the reason we won because we had a real cohesive team. They did everything good,” Koehler.
Koehler said that they had a good team, but at the start it was uncertain as to how the they would fare.
The team’s head coach is Sue Shot, who turned her team into a winner.
“Coach Sue really coached an excellent season. All the teams that we played did really well. All of the games were pretty hard fought. It couldn’t have been decided a better way,” Koehler said.
Team members are Ashlin Matsuyama, Linea Koehler, Emma Sloan, Meghan Fujimoto, Tori Craig, Ku’ulei Breen, Christina Pearson, Jazzlynn Bradbury, and Liam Gregorio.
