Hattie Sommerville has been playing tennis since the start of the game, but her success has been a part of her since the start.
At the annual meeting of the USTA/Hawai’i section on October 14, Sommerville was awarded the Service Award by the Kaua’i Disctrict for her 25 years of service to the USTA Leagues.
What an accomplishment for an individual who has given a lot back to the tennis community on the island.
On October 17 at the annual meeting of the United States Professional Tennis Association/Hawai’i Division, Sommerville was named the senior tennis player of the year.
Sommerville has been playing tennis for a long time and has given a lot of pointers to the island’s top tennis players, like Alex Sirios, who is currently playing college tennis on the mainland.
Sommerville’s husband is John, who is a great tennis player in his own regard.
