Katsumi “Kats” Yamashita

Katsumi “Kats” Yamashita of Honolulu died Oct. 4, 2005, at Kuakini Medical Center at the age of 82.

Born in Waimea, he was a retired carpenter.

He is survived by his spouse: Kikuye Yamashita; daughters: Sandra Sachie Yamashita and Linda Michie Miyamoto, both of Honolulu; two grandchildren and one great grandchild; brothers: Mitoji (Michi) Yamashita of California; sisters: Tomoe (Richard) Honjo of Honolulu and Sanae (William) Morita of Lihu’e.

Service will be Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 6 p.m. at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Casual attire is suggested. Inurnment will be on Thursday, Oct. 20 at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at 9:30 a.m.

Louis Freitas

Louis Freitas of Kalaheo, died Oct. 10, 2005, at Straub Hospital at the age of 86.

Born Sept. 23, 1919, on Kaua’i, he was an equipment operator for McBryde Sugar.

He is survived by son: Louis “Buddy” Freitas of Honolulu; two sisters: Anna Fune of Kalaheo and Beatrice Martin of California; one aunt, Georgina Rosa of Kalaheo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may visit with the family from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo, where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. by Father Nap. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Church Cemetery.

Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary

Anastacio R. Gonsalves

Anastacio R. “Pine” Gonsalves of Koloa, died Oct. 5, 2005, at Hale Kupuna, at the age of 86.

Born May 28, 1919, in Kealia, he worked in the hotel industry.

Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Maria Gonsalves and brothers and sisters, he is survived by caregiver, nephew Eugene Jimenez of Koloa and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Private services were held.
