A lot is up for grabs at the final rodeo of the season for Kaua’i’s women, who have displayed the, “Cowgirl Up” motto throughout the year.
The group of ladies have been participating in many community events, parades, and charity fund-raisers, during a highly successful season.
The final rodeo of the year is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 9, at 10 a.m.
CJM Country Stables will play host to rough and tough event, put on by the YMCA. Admission to the contest is free and there’s ample seating and easy parking.
Rosie’s Lunch Wagon will be on hand with local style food and beverages, and logo T-shirts are available for sale.
The cowgirls will compete in six fast-paced events on horseback: barrel racing, breakaway roping, goat tying, dally team roping, pole bending, and steer undecorating.
At this last rodeo of the year, overall points will be tallied up to determine buckle award winners in each event. Sunday’s results will also determine the 2005 All-Around Champion Cowgirl and Reserve (first runner up) Champion.
The All Around title is determined by highest points totaled for all events throughout the year. Spectators will enjoy an exceptional afternoon of fast-paced competition, and everyone is invited to cheer on their favorites, including Rosie “Da Road Runna” Shimogawa, whose mouth sometimes goes faster than her feet.
