LIHU’E — Machaela Rapozo scored five goals and Caitlyn Rapozo added one as Ha’aheo took a 6-2 win over Lihu’e Na Hoku Lani, Sunday at the North Vidinha fields in the KSA Under 12 division.
The rest of the Ha’aheo team had adjourned to their post-game potluck, but the two scorers were being consoled by Machaela’s dad, Lenny, as the pair learned a lesson in life — when you can score, the opposing team will put more than one defender on you.
Na Hoku Lani played tough defense throughout two halves, but the petite forward’s foot slipped through the efforts of Na Hoku Lani’s sweeper and found its way into the net folds.
Cinzia Bruno and Cascade Mayer each notched second-half goals to prevent a shutout for Na Hoku Lani.
Across the way, Justyn Nagahisa, a formidable name in East-side AYSO, paced the blue-shirted Kilakila to a 4-0 win over the orange shirted Lihu’e Heat.
Nagahisa chalked up a pair of gaols with Edsel Lactaotao and Troy Spears adding a score each in that win that was witnessed by parents lining the width of the playing field.
While some of the AYSO soccer teams took advantage of the Eastside Complex schools’ intersession breaks to give their teams a bye, KSA continues to host their four-a-side and seven-a-side games.
This weekend’s schedule calls for two games being played at the North Vidinha fields on Saturday, Oct. 8, and the remainder of the field playing at Wailua Houselots Park on Sunday, Oct. 9.
Game times for Saturday start at 1 p.m. with the Sunday games kicking off at 12:30 p.m.
Full weekend results as well as this weekend’s schedule appears in the Scoreboard section of page B2.
