Live Milimilinakalaweloilehua Hanaike Niheu of Makaweli, died at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital on Sept. 25, 2005 at the age of 78.
Born in Kalaeki’i, Ni’ihau on Oct. 12, 1926, he was a retired truck driver/cowboy with Gay & Robinson.
He is survived by wife, Rebecca Kapahu Niheu; five daughters: Lei (Tim) Chavies of Greeley, Colo., Ala Nizo of Kekaha, Pam (Larry) Kamakele of Waimea, Moki (Hiram) Niheu-Yong of Hanapepe, and Mili (Ken Vandenbussche) Niheu of Kekaha; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; hanai brother, Palenapa (Elizabeth) Kaohelaulii; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29, at the Waimea United Church (Foreign Church); service officiated by Rev. Dr. Olaf Hoeckmana-Percival will begin at 4:30 p.m. Cremation to follow, and scattering of the ashes at a later date. Aloha attire is suggested.

Paul T. Yardley
Paul T. Yardley of Kalaheo, died Sept. 23, 2005, at his home at the age of 88.
Born June 15, 1917, in Catsonville, Md., he served as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve, reaching the rank of lieutenant commander. He was also vice president and director of United General Finance Company and head of Atlas Appliances and Ramsay Appliances. He studied drawing and painting at the Honolulu Academy of Arts, retired from business and moved to Kaua’i in 1974
He wrote the life of Benjamin F. Dillingham, published in 1978 by the University of Hawai’i Press, and spent many years in painting, mainly landscapes. His works have been collected by the State Foundation for Culture and the Arts, the Honolulu Academy of Arts, Bank of Hawaii, First Hawaiian Bank and other institutions and private collectors.
Preceded in death by his wife, Maili Frost Yardley, he is survived by two daughters: Laura Kealoha (John Pavia) Yardley of Lawa’i and Louli (Bill Guy) Yardley of Punalu’u; son: William “Frosty” (Marci) Yardley of Kamuela; five grandchildren: Mikiala, Jonah, Cynthia, Jonathan Perry and Monica Naone; two great grandchildren: Katherine Perry and Jayden Naone; nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday, Sept. 30, at St. Michael & All Angels’ Episcopal Church in Lihu’e at 5 p.m.
Casual attire is suggested. Donations in his name may be made to the Kauai Humane Society, Alzheimer’s Foundation and Kauai Society of Artists.
