Dennis and Donna are appreciated
I want Dennis Fujimoto to know that he is very much appreciated, not only for the thousands of photos he has taken over the years but also for the hundreds of really great pictures he has captured. And to recognize how important it is to identify the people in the pictures, is a plus for him also.
Dennis is also our “link” to the people of Kaua‘i. Without him we would have less of a feeling of continuity and community.
One of the recent features I especially liked was the one he did on Donna Schulze, that came about when he was covering the opening of the new judicial complex.
Donna deserves a lot of credit for the enthusiasm and determination she brings to all the projects she undertakes. For more than 25 years, when she sees a need in the community, she’s there to fill it, working with the courts, teaching kids swimming, coaching track at Kilauea School, supporting the Heart Association, getting the YMCA started here, being its first female member and sticking with it for 25 years and other contributions, too numerous to mention.
Then there’s Donna, George and their dog Iniki, who participate in every Run and Walk held on the island.
As Dennis said, when you’re looking for Donna, look for a lady in a lavender dress, who drives a lavender car and lives in a lavender house.
I remember Donna saying once, “one of the wonderful things about Kaua‘i is that the people here give you room to be different.” And different she is, in a wonderful way!
