LIHU‘E — Shaundi Ayau topped a field of 45 girls and 21 boys to emerge as the 2005 Meadow Gold Healthy Baby, winning the annual contest Saturday evening at the Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau Fair at Vidinha Stadium.

Contestants in the always popular event worked to present their best appeal to three judges, and an audience made up of moms, dads, uncles, aunties, grandmas and grandpas.
Due to the large number of contestants, the presentations were broken into phases, with fun contests helping to keep the event flowing. All contestants received prizes provided by representatives of the event’s major sponsor, Meadow Gold Dairies. Cindy Jackson, Miss Garden Isle 2005, took a break from manning the Meadow Gold Ice Cream booth to help with the pageant.
