In an effort to find out how many Kaua‘i residents are interested in becoming home-buyers and how many are in need of rental units, an island-wide survey is being conducted by the County Housing Agency staff in the Offices of Community Assistance.
Residents have a first opportunity to fill out surveys at the Kauai County Farm Bureau Fair going on now through today at Vidinha Stadium in Lihu‘e.
The county booth is located right next to the farm bureau’s information booth.
“The data collected in the survey, along with information gathered from developers, will help us determine what Kaua‘i’s true housing needs are, so we can create a master plan for the island,” said Mayor Bryan Baptiste.
Another community outreach is planned for Saturday, Sept. 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Kilauea and Waimea neighborhood centers and the Lihu‘e Civic Center Mo‘ikeha Building firstfloor conference room.
Residents may also stop by any neighborhood center or the County Housing Agency in the Pi‘ikoi Building (former Gem store) during normal business hours, and fill out a form, county officials said.
The survey is available on the county’s Web site at www.kauai.gov.
“The form is short, and will only require a few minutes of your time,” said the mayor. “But it will reap tremendous benefit to our island community.”
- The deadline to turn in surveys is Friday, Sept. 30.
