The biggest rodeo event of the year brought out the biggest names on the island and Marti Snyder made the biggest mark on her home turf.
Formerly a Miranda, Marti scorched the field with wins in the breakaway roping and the barrel racing contests.
Her parents, Joyce and Jimmy, the owners of CJM Country Stables, had a lot to do with the victories.
With a packed crowd in attendance, Tami Yamamoto impressed the judges for the best-dressed cowgirl prize, along with the top spot for the fancy rodeo horse.
Yamamoto and her animal were “pretty in pink” with matching out-fits and horse tack, all the way to pink ribbons in her horse’s mane.
Other winners included Fern White and Robert Rita in the mixed double mugging competition, Keoki Palau and Tom Aiu in the double mugging contest, Adam Brun and Chaz Rita in the #4 America Cowboy Team Roping Association, Stanley Ornellas and Jim Miranda in Century Team Roping, Bob Brun and Tom Aiu in Open Team Roping, Randy Brun in Poo Wai U, and Kamuela Palama in bull riding.
