Kaua‘i Police Department officers recently arrested a Wailua woman, Faith Michelle Nelson, 32, at Lihu‘e Airport, where she was caught carrying around a half a pound of crystal methamphetamine (ice) and 12.6 grams of cocaine, KPD officials said.
The estimated street value of the drugs is over $35,000, KPD sources said.
According to acting Lt. Wesley Perreira with the Kaua‘i Police Department Vice Narcotic Section, officers with the Ice Task Force, Narcotics Enforcement Unit and KPD’s Administrative and Technical Bureau officers arrested Nelson for first-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said the arrest followed a month-long investigation of Nelson, 32, with many members of the public providing information on the case.
Anyone with information about illegal drug activities happening in their neighborhoods or drug trafficking to Kaua‘i from any outside location, are encouraged to call KPD’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit at 241-1703, or Crime Stoppers at 241-1887.
Calls to the Crime Stoppers line may be made anonymously. Cash rewards may be offered through that line for information leading to arrests and convictions of criminals.
