KAPA‘A — He’s at it again. Larry Bowman, a part-time Kaua‘i resident who owns Valley House in Kapa‘a and other properties in Kilauea and at ‘Anini, gave another healthy check of $2,500 towards the Kapa‘a High School football team and its annual summer camp.
And here’s how it all came about. Shawn Smith, general manager of Bowman’s Falco Partners on Kaua‘i connected with Wes Kaui, of the Kaua‘i Police Department and an assistant coach for the Warrior football team.
After a short conversation, Smith found out that the summer camp expenses came out of their pockets, so Smith went to Bowman.
“This is all for the kids and we just want to keep them active, plus the summer camp is a great team bonding experience,” Smith noted.
Bowman, whose list of giving back to the community is as long as any, has been gracious to the Kaua‘i Police Department (radios, a drug-sniffing dog, etc.), Pop Warner football, Ku Kilakila Kaua‘i All-Island Marching Band, Special Olympics, American Cancer Society, Pony baseball, and other causes.
“We’re (Valley House) right down the right from here (Kapa‘a High School) and I just want to help them out. They love football and so do I and I’m going to come out to see them play,” Bowman said.
As a nice gesture, Kapa‘a head coach Sia Salausa said that he’ll hang the large check above the Warrior weightroom.
