Princeville-based surfboard shaper and designer Dick Brewer was honored over the weekend at the third Quiksilver Edition Hawaiian Islands Vintage Surf Auction held at the Blaisdall Center in Honolulu Saturday.
Brewer and his wife Sherry attended a pre-auction party held Friday night at Duke’s restaurant in Waikiki. Brewer is considered one of the top surfboard shapers of all time and shapes surfboards on the North Shore for some of the top surfers in the world.
Seven of Brewer’s surfboards were featured in the auction, which is run by Randy Rarick, one of the founders of professional surfing and a long-time North Shore of O‘ahu surfer. The event is held as a benefit for the Hawaiian Lifeguard Association’s Junior Lifeguard Program.
