The Rotary Club of West Kaua‘i and the ZZ Youth Basketball Program opened up play in its Kaua‘i Open Basketball Tournament yesterday at the Raiderdome.
In the first contest, Paleku Yasay led Hanamaulu with 10 big points for the 53-19 win over the Kanu Hustlers. Kaleo Cummings added eight for the Hustlers.
Brian Gerardo’s 14 gave the Lihu‘e Lakers enough fire power for the 51-41 victory over ZZ. Koa Prem paced ZZ with 17 points.
John Das put up 10 points, which led Da Bullz over the Kaua‘i Fire Raiders, 32-13. Travis Koga contributed with five markers in the loss.
Jordan Tottori lit up the scoreboard with 12 points for the Lihu‘e Maniacs over the Westside Heat, 42-23. Clifton Callejo led all scorers with 13 for the Heat.
Kaiakoili’s 11 points paced Westside in its 48-35 triumph over Lihu‘e Breakaway. Basil Walton had the hot hand for Breakaway with 19 points.
The action continues today at 9 a.m. at the Raiderdome in Lihu‘e.
