Nationals play host to Hawai‘i on Aloha Friday
By The Garden Island
Today, the Washington Nationals will host “Aloha Friday” at RFK Stadium during their game with the Houston Astros. The theme night event is the result of a collaboration between the Nationals Baseball team and Hawai‘i’s Governor Linda Lingle, with assistance from Hawai‘i’s U.S. Senator Daniel K. Akaka.
The event was inspired by Senator Akaka who explained the “Aloha Friday” concept as the tradition in the 50th state celebrating the completion of a successful work-week and the beginning of a weekend of fun and relaxation.
Featured as part of this “Aloha Friday with the Washington Nationals,” is a chance to win a trip for two to Hawai‘i, including airfare and hotel. Also included in the game night program are Hawai‘i-themed pre and in-game activities, including Hawaiian music, goodie packs, Hawai‘i hula entertainment, and additional prize giveaways. Nationals fans are encouraged to play-ball “Hawaiian-style,” by wearing their best Aloha wear to the game.
“We are extremely proud to share a bit of Hawai‘i with Nationals baseball fans in D.C.,” says Governor Lingle.
