A Kapa‘a woman was arraigned Thursday on 52 counts of charges including first-degree burglary, first-degree theft and criminal property damage.
According to assistant county prosecutor Richard Minatoya, the charges stem from 31 separate incidents that occurred from August through November of 2004.
Melissa Somalpong, 31, pleaded innocent to all of the charges at the hearing in Fifth Circuit Court. She is being held at the Kaua‘i County Community Correctional Facility on $200,000 bail.
According to police records, Somalpong was arrested on grand jury indictment warrants. Charges were filed on Tuesday. According to the state Attorney General’s search engine, Somalpong has no prior convictions in Hawai‘i. A trial date was set for Dec. 5 with Minatoya scheduled to prosecute the case.
