Olohena Bridge
Now that Olohena Road has been closed so that the Taj Mahal style (price!) bridge can be built over a ditch — not a river or stream or creek but by the county engineers map, a ditch — traffic and congestion reign supreme.
At the final marathon council meeting on this project, Kaipo Asing stated that historically no major road on Kaua‘i has ever been closed due to bridge building without a bypass being put in place so this Mayor has made history! His excuse that the start of this project wasn’t under his watch just doesn’t fly as he still had control of putting in a bypass which wasn’t done.
Yes, this is all water under the bridge (certainly not the Olohena Bridge!) but hopefully all you people who are spending twice as much money on gasoline, waiting in traffic that has been created by this closure, and totally frustrated by the inconvenient detour will remember this at election time.
