Puakea Golf Course, host of the 2005 Aloha Section Club Professional Championship, announces its second anniversary specials the week of July 9th. Starting on Saturday, July 9th from 10 a.m. — 2 p.m., Puakea will have a free demo day with equipment vendors Nike and Wilson. Visitor and residents alike are welcome to stop in during this time to test out the latest in golf equipment and accessories at the Puakea Golf Course range facility.
The week’s events continue on Sunday, with Puakea inviting junior golfers, age 7-18 to a FREE Junior Golf Clinic from 1 p.m. — 2:30 p.m. at the driving range. The course features a state-of-the-art practice facility that includes 30 hitting stations and grass tees. Paul Ito, PGA Director of Golf states, “Here at Puakea, family or “ohana” is something special and we want to encourage families to come out and enjoy a fun, healthy activity like golf.” This program allows families to spend the afternoon together and juniors to begin the learning process about the game of golf in addition to the rules and etiquette.
Puakea’s commitment to bring juniors into the game of golf and share its world-class golf facility extends beyond this free one day clinic. Puakea is offering a Juniors Play Free Program (ages 7-18) during the months of July and August when accompanied by a paying adult. This program will be available during weekdays (Monday — Friday) to promote the game of golf to juniors home for the summer, or for visitors coming to the island of Kauai.
For the week of July 9 — 15, Puakea has partnered up with the Kauai Food Bank to support efforts to residents in need. Puakea is going to be collecting a minimum $10 donation for those interested in a chance to win some amazing Hole in One Prizes at each of the par 3’s when they play a round of golf at Puakea. Prizes for a Hole in One include: $10,000 cash, a 7 Day Cruise, Set of Ping Golf Clubs and a $500 credit at the Puakea Golf Shop. For every $1 donated, the Kauai Food Bank is able to distribute $16 worth of food!

Half of those we feed are children and 25are our islands kapuna (elderly),” states Helen Juliano, Development Projects Coordinator at the Kauai Food Bank.
