- April visitor arrivals to Kaua‘i showed a decrease of -3.8 percent compared to the same month in 2004. The domestic market showed a -0.8 percent decrease, to 73,298 arrivals, with the international market also showing a decrease of -27.6 percent, with 6,759 arrivals, according to the Poipu Beach Resort Association newsletter.
- Officials in the Hawaii Agricultural Statistics office estimated the value of Hawai‘i’s seed industry at a record high $60.2 million for the 2004-2005 season. According to leaders at the National Agricultural Statistics Service, this preliminary estimate represents a 22-percent increase from 2003-2004’s revised estimate of $49.2 million. Seed corn is expected to account for $55.4 million, or 92 percent, of the total value for the 2004-2005 season.
