Thelma “Tootsie” Roselani Kaui of Kapahi died on April 20, 2005, at Straub Hospital on O‘ahu at the age of 68. She was born on Dec. 23, 1936, in Keapana. For many years she was an LPN at Wilcox Memorial Hospital and retired from Kauai Medical Clinic in Kapa‘a as an LPN and a Facilitator.
She is survived by her husband Joaquin Freitas of Kapahi, two sons; Randall (Mieko) Kaui of Molokai, Carl (Cathy) Kaui of Kapahi, stepdaughter: Dianne Nunes of Minnesota, brother: Chang Kaui of Hanama‘ulu, three sisters: Elsie Kaui (Francis) Pahia of Anahola, Sarah Kaui Berthelman of Honolulu, Bessie Kaui Laster of California; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, April 30, from 8 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kapaa Ward II. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Kapaia. The family suggests casual attire. Arrangements are being handled by Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
