The 2005 drag racing season roared to life last Saturday night at Kaua‘i Raceway Park. The highlight of the evening was a 195 MPH blast down the track by Riley Takayama in a fire-breathing blown alcohol dragster sponsored by Hadama Service, Pembrook Industries & Bobby Matsuda Race Cars.
A huge turnout by the younger crowd, sport compacts, and two new PRO ET racers helped make the season opener a tremendous success. Wayne Costa brought out a beautiful custom split window corvette that flew down the track at a blistering 150 MPH.
Although rain threatened though out the event, only a 10 minute delay was necessary after a few sprinkles. The next race is scheduled for Sunday April 3rd.
