Girls’ softball meeting

The Kaua‘i Amateur Softball Association Girls Junior Olympics fast-pitch season will be starting soon. A very important organizational meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 6:30 p.m. at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center, room 106.
The age divisions to be discussed are girls 18-and-under, 14-and-under, 12-and-under, and 10-and-under. All prospective coaches, officials, and those interested in helping out with the league activities should attend. For more information, contact league commissioner Mike Koerte at 645-0654.
HSJGA presents college workshops
The Hawai‘i State Jr. Golf Association will be sponsoring a college workshop at the Cheifess Kamakahelei Middle School’s Cafeteria on Kaua‘i on Wednesday, March 16, from 6:30 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.
The workshop is open to prospective college athletes, parents, coaches and all other interested individuals. Some of the topics to be covered are how to prepare for college testing and entrance requirements, applying for scholarships, maximizing one’s chances for an athletic scholarship, NCAA regulations, and how to make oneself more marketable to college coaches.
A panel of Division I coaches and players and parents of college athletes will be present to answer all questions.
The workshop is free for HSJ-GA members and their families and $5.00 for non HSJGA members. For an application, call HSJGA at (808) 532-0559 or go to www.HSJGA.org.
The HSJGA will also be sponsoring a hands-on Golf Swing Speed Clinic at Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School’s court on March 26.
KPAL Northshore flag football signups
There will be KPAL flag foot-ball and cheerleading signups for the Northshore area on April 6, 8, 13, and 15 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Kilauea Neighborhood Center.
Eligible players include ages 4-6 (Cubs), 7-9 (Bobcat), and 10-12 (Wildcat). Applications may be picked up and completed during registration dates. For all players, parents must bring a copy of their child’s birth certificate and updated medical card at time of registration.
The fee is $10 per player. More coaches are needed for each division. For more information, contact Venus Kanoho at 823-9127.
Martial arts tournament
There will be a mixed martial arts tournament on March 19 at Kapa‘a High School’s Gym, starting at 6 p.m. For fighting or ticket information, contact Randy Ortiz at 482-0334 or Vance Pascua at 335-3338. All styles are welcome.
Kawaihau Little League registration
The Kawaihau Community Little League is currently having registration for its majors baseball season for players 10-12 years old.
Registration fee is $40 and applications can be picked up and turned in at the food booth at the Kapa‘a New Town Ballpark every Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Applications are also available at Pono Market.
Returning players must have their registration forms turned in by March 24, all others by March 30. Mandatory tryouts for new players will be held on March 29-30 at 4 p.m. at the Kapa‘a New Town Ballpark. For more information, contact president Shaylene IseriCarvalho at 651-8134.
Hanalei Horseshoe event
The Hanalei Horseshoe Pitchers will host a doubles horse-shoe pitching event from April 9-10 at the Anahola Horseshoe Courts/Hanalei Black Pot Beach Park. Check-in starts at 9 a.m.
