There will be a mixed martial arts tournament on March 19 at Kapa‘a High School’s Gym, starting at 6 p.m.

Lihu‘e Pop Warner fundraiser
Lihu’e Town will be having its 1st Annual Spring Festival, hosted by Lihu’e Pop Warner Association on May 6th, 7th, and 8th.

Kawaihau Little League registration
The Kawaihau Community Little League is now having registration for its majors baseball season for players the ages of 10-12 years old.
Registration fee is $40 and applications can be picked up and turned in at the food booth at the Kapa‘a New Town Ballpark, every Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Applications are also available at Pono Market.
Returning players must have their registration forms turned in by March 24, all others by March 30.
Mandatory tryouts for new players will be held on March 29-30 at 4 p.m. at the Kapa‘a New Town Ballpar. If you have any questions, please call president Shaylene Iseri-Carvalho at 651-8134.
Hanalei Horseshoe event
The Hanalei Horseshoe Pitchers will host a doubles horse-shoe pitching event from April 9-10 at the Anahola Horseshoe Courts/Hanalei Black Pot Beach Park, starting at 9 a.m. (check-in). For more information, contact Myrtle May Kamoku at 821-0602.
Ten Star basketball camp
Applications are now being evaluated for The Ten Star All-Star Summer Basketball Camp, which is by invitation only. Boys and girls aged 10-19 are eligible to apply. Past participants include: Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Vince Carter, Jerry Stackhouse, Grant Hill, and Antawn Jamison. Players from 50 states and 17 foreign countries attended the 2004 camp.
College basketball scholarships are possible for players selected to the All-American Team. The nearest camp to Hawai‘i is at Thousand Oaks, California. For a free brochure, call (704) 373-0873.
HSJGA presents college workshops
The Hawai‘i State Jr. Golf Association will be sponsoring a college workshop at the Cheifess Kamakahelei Middle School’s Cafeteria on Kaua‘i on Wednesday, March 16, from 6:30 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.
The workshop is open to prospective college athletes, parents, coaches and all other interested individuals. Some of the topics to be covered are how to prepare for college testing and entrance requirements, applying for scholarships, maximizing one’s chances for an athletic scholarship, NCAA regulations, and how to make oneself more marketable to college coaches. A panel of Division I coaches and players and parents of college athletes will be present to answer all questions.

The HSJGA will also be sponsoring hands on Golf Swing Speed Clinics at Pearl Country Club on March 23, the Dunes at Maui Lani and Naniloa Country Club on March 25, and Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School’s court on March 26.
