With the recent reflagging of the former Kauai Coconut Beach Resort in Waipouli as the Courtyard by Marriott Kauai at Waipouli Beach, Marriott leaders now have three properties they either own or manage on
Marriott officials own and operate the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort & Beach Club in Lihu‘e, and Marriott’s Waiohai Beach Club in Po‘ipu, and manage the Court-yard by Marriott at Waipouli Beach for owners and operators Presidio Kauai, LLC.
Mayor Bryan J. Baptiste and other elected officials from the County of Kaua‘i welcomed the expansion, during rebranding and re-flagging ceremony earlier this month. “The rebranding of this hotel is a welcome addition to our tourism on Kaua‘i,” Baptiste said.
The soft-opening event included Hindu and Hawaiian blessings, and a symbolic presentation and raising of the Courtyard by Marriott flag.
“We are excited about the introduction of the Courtyard by Marriott brand here on the island of Kaua‘i,” said Stan Brown, vice president of Pacific Island Area and Japan, Marriott International, and former general manager of the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort & Beach Club.
“Although Courtyard is primarily a hotel that caters to business travelers, this prime oceanfront hotel located in a resort destination will attract the leisure travelers,” Brown said. “This property serves to fulfill that growing demand for accommodations at a moderate price between high-end luxury and budget.”
Fresh from a multi-million-dollar renovation project, the four-story, 311-room Courtyard by Marriott at Waipouli Beach features upscale touches that include newly redesigned guest rooms and suites, new public areas, innovative dining at the Voyager Grille, entertainment at Cook’s Landing Cocktail Lounge, the award-winning Hiva Pasefika lu‘au by Tihati Productions, fitness and business centers, tennis court, and complimentary, high-speed wireless Internet access.
The hotel is located on 10.5 oceanfront acres on Waipouli Beach.
“This Court-yard property is unlike those located in the Mainland United States because our guest rooms are designed with touches of upscale for a residential feel, and we will offer a full-service restaurant,” said Glenn Okamoto, general manager of Courtyard by Marriott Kauai at Waipouli Beach.
Opening rates begin at $139 per night through the end of March. For hotel information and reservations, please call toll-free 1-800-760-8555, or visit www.courtyard.com.
In November 2003, officials with Marriott International (NYSE: MAR) entered into a franchise agreement with lead-ers of Presidio Hotel Group, LLC, a Northern-California-based firm that specializes in developing and managing full-service and focused-service hotel properties in the United States.
Courtyard by Marriott hotels are aimed at business and leisure travelers who seek dependable and consistent, high-quality accommodations and services in a comfortable atmosphere, Brown said.
The Courtyard by Marriott Kauai at Waipouli Beach is the third resort Courtyard in the Marriott portfolio, following the Courtyard Surfers Paradise in Australia, and Courtyard Isla Verde in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
With the addition of the Courtyard by Marriott Kauai at Waipouli Beach, Marriott’s presence in Hawai‘i grows to 15 hotel and vacation-owner-ship properties and more than 7,000 total units on four islands: Kaua‘i, O‘ahu, Maui and the Big Island.
