Other than that, it was all Waimea, as Kollin Morikawa beat Gabby Sakai, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) in the second singles contest.
The Menehune swept the doubles matches with Bryan Hayashi and Jeffrey Kakuda defeating Justin Pelton and Andrew Rowen, 6-4, 6-1.
Scott Lopez and Jake Anderson had little trouble with Fabio Villa and Akira Nordmeier, 6-4, 6-0 in the second doubles match.
The brother duo of Scott and Nathan Martin eased past Kevin Dhorne and Eric Talvi, 6-1, 6-1.
The Waimea boys team went on to beat Island School, 4-1.
On the girls side, the Menehune swept all the contests, en route to a 5-0 win.
Sonya Tacub ousted Jasmine Blaine, 6-0, 6-3 in the first singles match. Ciera Sherman defeated Jennifer Ray in the second singles contest. In doubles action, Reiko Ayabe and Kristine Sison trounced Dianna Cowern and Georgina Ferrier, 6-0, 6-1.
Kelsi Naumu and Ashley Shimono won by default. In consolation matches, Mitzi Seto and Erna Agmata defeated Taylor Dabin and Natasha Arruda, 6-0, 7-5, Island’s Julie Blachowiak and Tiffany Lum beat Kelsi Naumu and Ashley Shimono, 10-8, Georgina Ferrier and Melody Young climbed past Tori Kagawa and Leslie Gudoy, 8-4, and Kristine Sison and Sharla Shimono defeated Dianna Cowern and Jennifer Ray, 8-5.
Meanwhile out at the Hanalei Bay Resorts Tennis Courts, Kapa‘a and Kula split matches. The Warrior girls blanked Kula, 6-0, but the Kula boys edged Kapa‘a, 3-2.
Kapa‘a’s Shawna Tamayose defeated Ariel Carlson, 6-0, 6-1 in the first singles match and Tasha Haraguchi won by default in the second singles match.
Kelli Okamoto and Crystine Ito nailed down Danielle Hoen and Nora Robertson, 6-0, 6-1 in doubles action. Julie Yoshida and Stephanie Kawamura teamed for the 6-0, 6-1 win over Diane Sater and Anna Novoselova. Christine Lane and Courtney Kerlin won by default.
In a highly anticipated boys match, Kula’s Kyle Barrett defeated Kapa‘a’s Kia Tom 6-0, 6-2. Bryson Toda of Kapa‘a beat out Kibo Smith, 6-0, 6-1 in the second singles match.
In doubles action, Kula’s Alex and Dylan Latif bounced Cory Napolean and Taylor Alfiler, 6-1, 6-2.
Sergei Wright and Matt Vinsko of Kula ousted Danny Rodrick and Travis Wakayama of Kapa‘a, 7-6, 7-5.
Kapa‘a’s Chris Ramelb and Kila Youn won by default in the third doubles match. KIF tennis volleys its way to the Kaua‘i Lagoons (Kaua‘i vs. Waimea) and Kiahuna Courts (Island vs. Kapa‘a) this Saturday at 12 p.m.
