Kapa‘a Pop Warner coaches wanted
Kapa‘a Pop Warner is now accepting Coach’s Applications for the 2005 Tackle and Spirit Season. Call Franny Johnson for application at 639-7299. Deadline to apply is Feb 16.
Also, Kapa‘a Pop Warner is asking for the public’s help. Their locker room was burglarized between Friday, Jan. 21, and Tuesday, Jan 25, 2005. Any one with information reagrding this please call Kaua‘i Police Department police dispatch at 241-1711.
Hanalei Canoe Club recruitment
The Hanalei Canoe Club welcomes all new and returning paddlers to join them for its 2005 season of outrigger canoe paddling. Practices will begin Monday February 14.
Women practice Monday and Wednesday at 5 p.m. and Saturdays at 8 a.m. Men practice Tuesday and Thursday at 5 p.m. Youth practice will begin on Tuesday, February 15 and will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2:45 p.m. For information call Skip at 822-5018 or Mary at 826-4619.
Lihu‘e Baseball League coaches wanted
Lihue Baseball League are now accepting coaching applications for the
2005 Mustang/Bronco/Pony Division.

Morales brothers dominate
Arnold and younger brother Dennis Morales opened up the new year by winning their division. It was an intense battle in the 1/8 4wd nitro buggy between racers and Arnold managed to clinch the overall win.
Dennis dominated from the start of the day and also got the tq of the day honor.
Another top qualifier was Dennis Ginez. Despite the lack of turn out, they’ve managed to have a great day of racing.
The next race is on Feb. 13 at Big Kmart’s back parking lot, starting at 10 a.m. Admission is free and for more information, contact Arnold at 245-2604 or 639-9314.
Strength clinic comes to Kaua‘i
Bob Rowbothan from BFS (Bigger, Faster, Stronger) will be coming to the Raiderdome at Kaua‘i High School Feb.19 to conduct a coaches clinic. Primarily, football coaches should attend but, all who are interested are welcomed. For more information, visit www.bfs.com.
Kaiola Canoe Club begins practices
Kaiola Canoe Club in Niumalu has begun practice for the 2005 canoe paddling season, and welcomes new paddlers.
The club halau is next to Niumalu Park. No previous paddling experience is necessary. The men’s program trains from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. The women’s program trains from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The Hawaiian sport of outrigger canoe paddling involves training in Hawaiian traditions, fitness, teamwork and much more. An active racing program includes both long-distance and sprint events. Kaua‘i senior golf
The first quarterly Kaua‘i Senior Golf Club Tournament for 2005 will be held, Saturday, Feb. 19 at the Wailua Golf Course. Feb. 2005 handicaps will be used and entry blanks are available at the Wailua Golf Course. Golfers 55-and-over are encouraged to come and enjoy the game with friends.
