HONOLULU — Bobby Nash converted a four-point play with 15 seconds re-maining in overtime to lead Hawai‘i past Rice 75-72 in a Western Athletic Conference game Thursday night.
Nash, who came off the bench to lead Hawai‘i (11-5, 3-5 WAC) with 20 points, was fouled by Rices Jason McKre-ith on his 3-point basket from the right corner.
After Nash made the free throw to give Hawaii a 73-72 lead, Rice missed twice with under five seconds left.
Jeff Blackett added two free throws with 1.5 seconds left to seal the game for the Rainbow Warriors.
Blackett finished with 20 points while Julian Sensley had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Rice was led by Michael Harris 25 points and 12 re-bounds while McKreith added in 20.
The Owls led 72-69 after a free throw by McKreith with 28 seconds left in overtime.
