Honolulu Marathon registration

In an effort to further strengthen its economic impact and increase participation, Honolulu Marathon Association president Jim Barahal will open registration for the Dec. 11 race on Jan. 29.
This will be more than three months earlier than 2004 registration opened and the earliest ever start for Honolulu Marathon registration.
Starting Feb. 7, registration will be open to both local and out-of-state people. This will be four months earlier than the opening of worldwide registration in 2004. The fee for local residents will be $60 until Oct. 29.
Largusa, Koga lead the way
Cameron Largusa’s 11 points, led Hanamaulu to a 38-36 close win over the Lihu‘e Maniacs. Davone Florence had nine points for Hanamaulu. Jordan Tottomori and Scot Sasan led Lihu‘e with 10 points each.
Travis Koga put up 10 points in the 26-23 win for the Kaua‘i Fire Raiders over the Island School Voyagers. Brandon Taylor and Caanan Higa led the way for Island School.
H.S.F./YMCA contest #3
The third surf/bodyboard contest of the H.S.F./YMCA of Kaua‘i season happens this Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 22-23, surf permitting.
Divisions include, Menehune 11-under, boys 12-14, junior men 15-17, open men 18-24, girls 17-under, garden island brotherhood 4-A surf series, boys bodyboard 14-under, junior bodyboard 15-17, senior men 35-44, grandmasters 45-up, and longboard open. Hanapepe youth baseball registration
HYBA will having Mustang, Bronco, and Pony Registration on Monday, January 31 and Tuesday February 1 at 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m at the Hanapepe Recreation Center Patio. Youth lacrosse meeting on Friday
There will be a meeting to help organize the Kaua’i Youth Lacrosse Association on Friday, January 21 at 6 p.m. at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
All people interested in helping out in whatever manner possible are urged to attend. Please pass this on to anyone you think might be interested in starting youth lacrosse on Kaua’i. The goal is to establish youth teams to start playing this spring.

The Lihu‘e Pop Warner Association is now accepting applications for Tackle and Cheer Coaches for the upcoming 2005 Season. Anyone interested in submitting an application can contact Mel Rapozo at 245-3539. Application Deadline is Friday, February 11.
UH-Hilo hoopsters move up
Hilo, Hawai‘i — The University of Hawai‘i at Hilo moved up a notch in the NCAA Division II West Region Poll to the third spot. The Vulcans (16-2 overall, 4-2 Pacific West Conference) hosts Chaminade University (11-5, 5-1) in a pair of PWC games this week in Hilo.
