The Kaua‘i Keiki & High School Rodeo Association will be hosting its 4th rodeo of the 2004 — 2005 season this Sunday, Jan. 9 at CJM Country Stables in Po‘ipu, starting at 9 a.m. See future cowboys and cowgirls as young as 5 years old compete in barrel racing, pole bending, dummy roping, goat undecorating. A lunch wagon will be on site and admission is free.
Region 941 Kirk Banks tryouts
Tryouts for the AYSO region 941 U-12 girls Kirk Banks team will be this Sat., Jan. 8 at 9 a.m. at the Kilauea field. This tryout is basically for teams from Hanalei and Kilauea, but girls from throughout the region are welcome to attend.

Be a part of something new
Coach Mike Buratti will be forming a new soccer club called the Kapa‘a Blaze. The club will be practicing at the Kapahi Park on Tuesdays and Fridays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. They welcome both boys and girls in the under 12 age division to come and join the club. Roll into the YMCA for roller hockey
The YMCA of Kaua‘i Roller Hockey League announces start of registration for the upcoming 2005 season. Boys and girls ages 6 to 17 are welcome to participate, with or without experience. Games will be held at the rink at the County of Kaua‘i Kapa‘a Ballpark. Registration is $40. Call 245-3358 for information and a registration form.
Buddy up with Kiahuna Tennis
Kick off 2005 with a healthy “BYOB” or Bring Your Own Buddy to a fun filled round robin tennis on Sunday, January 9 at the beautiful Kiahuna Tennis and Swim Club from 1 p.m. — 4 p.m.
A Senior League Captain’s Meeting (for players ages 50 and over) will be held promptly at 1 p.m. and a Mixed League Captain’s Meeting will be held at 3 p.m. on site. Captains will be asked for their initial rosters. Senior League Sectionals is scheduled for 5/28/05 – 5/30/05 on Kaua‘i and the Mixed League Sectional Championships will be held on 9/23/05 – 9/25/05 in Kona. Kirk Banks tryouts for Region 940
Tryouts for Region 940 U12 Boys Kirk Banks Tournament Team will be held at the Waimea Park on Saturday, January 8 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on both days. Players must have played AYSO this season. Please bring soccer ball, water, shinguards and shoes. For more information call Coach Ken Morikawa at 652-7935 or 338-1424. The Kirk Banks Tournament is scheduled for March 24-27 on O‘ahu.
Relay for Life softball tourney
The Second Annual Open Men’s Softball Tournament (Connie’s Fighters and Survivors) will take place at the Waimea Canyon School Ballpark from March 11-13. Entrance fee per team is $175. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. For more information contact Teddy Perreira at 337-9949.
