Hawaii Army National Guard soldiers, most of whom will leave this Friday, Dec. 31, New Year’s Eve, for Fort Bliss, Texas, then Fort Polk, La., then Iraq for one or two years in the war zone, found themselves in need of non-provisioned items such as extra blankets, rice cookers, and more warm clothing.
Members of the “Friends of Company A” are holding a fund-raiser at the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort & Beach Club today, Monday, Dec. 27, from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., including dinner.
The cost is $40 per person, with proceeds to go towards purchase of these items. Col. Ted Daligdig III (U.S. Army, retired, 821-4477), Sgt. Jessica Higa (651-7619), and Queenie Pezario (651-8088) are organizing this event, and may be contacted for more information.
