BG Kaua‘i Holdings, LLC has purchased the Poipu Shopping Village across from the Kiahuna Plantation Resort for $19.5 million. Holliday Fenoglio Fowler of Houston arranged the acquisition and mezzanine financing for a fiveyear term through Barclays Capital. The deal closed at the end of October. CB Richard Ellis Hawaii, Inc. has been contracted to manage and lease the Poipu Shopping Village for the new owner.
Originally called the Kiahuna Shopping Village, the 41,239-square-foot, plantation-style shopping center was completed in 1985, and has 27 establishments, including jewelry and clothing boutiques, art galleries, Whaler’s General Store, Roy’s Poipu Bar and Grill, Black Pearl, Sand People and Keoki’s Paradise.
Valerie Roland of CBRE is the general manager of Poipu Shopping Village. Prior to joining CBRE, she was the on-site manager for the property while under the ownership of Village Properties, Inc. and was responsible for fiscal administration, leasing,
tenant relations, marketing and promotions and physical operations. CBRE Hawaii represented Village Properties, Inc., the seller of the shopping center complex. “While exploring the real-estate-investment opportunities in Hawai‘i, we were impressed with CBRE

CBRE Hawaii’s new role as leasing and managing agent for Poipu Shopping Village is an indication of a property management trend the firm has been experiencing. Roland has more than 15 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry, including property management for the Kaua‘i office of Chaney, Brooks, and Co. and administrative services for McCandless Management Co., Inc.
Along with the Poipu Shopping Village, CBRE Hawaii now manages three properties on Kaua‘i, including the Kukui Grove Center and Commercial Village in Lihu‘e, and Kaua‘i Village in Kapa‘a.
