Helen Yoshie Okamoto of Wailua Houselots, died Sept. 22, 2004, at her home at the age of 79.
Born March 8, 1925, in Lihu‘e, she was a postmaster.
She is survived by her husband; Noboru “Lefty Okamoto of Wailua Houselots; three sons: Carlton Okamoto of Honolulu, Stanley Okamoto of Maui and Stephen (Karen) Okamoto of Kaua‘i; one daughter: Arleen Powell of Koloa; two brothers: Satoru Nakamura of Los Angeles and George (Janet) Nakamura of Olympia, Wash.; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation has been scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Lihu‘e Christian Church at 10:30 a.m. Service at 11 a.m. The family suggests casual attire and asks that flowers be omitted. Private burial will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
Kii Honda
Kii Honda of Koloa, died at Kauai Care Center on Sept. 27, 2004, at the age of 88.
Born in Koloa, on Jan. 22, 1916, she was a retired store clerk with Sueoka’s.
She is survived by two sons, Barry (Judy) Honda of Guam and Michael (Jane) Honda of Los Angeles, Calif.; two daughters, Louise (Jim) Fowler of Los Angeles, Calif., and Frances (Gary) Kagimoto of Honolulu; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Burt (Asako) Ebata of Koloa and Asao (Alice) Ebata of Honolulu; three sisters, Kimi (Kiichi) Odo of Waimea, Betty Yamamoto of Lihu‘e and Dale Yamanaka of Honolulu. Service were private.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Michie Tanaka
Michie Tanaka of Waimea,died at Kauai Care Center on Sept. 21, 2004 at the age of 88.
Born in Evanstone, Wyoming, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by a sister, Matsumi Nagamura of Torrance, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004 at the Waimea Honpa Hongwanji.
Arrangements are being handled be Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Peter Kuahiwinui
Peter Levi Kuahiwinui of Anahola, died Oct. 2, 2004, at his home at the age of 47.
Born May 16, 1957, in Opihihale, South Kona, he was a supervisor for Coco Palms.
He is survived by his wife: Haralanlouise L. “Bae” Kuahiwinui of Anahola; one son: Kaimana Peter Kuahiwinui of Anahola; five sisters: Elizabeth Momi (Fred) Bacio of Pakala, Cecilia Keoho (Pat) Hoopai-Fase of Wailuku, Maui; Mary Jane Ferreira of Mililani, O‘ahu, Daffodil Haunani Kubo of Las Vegas, Lurline Dorothy Lei Hawk of Texas; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9, at Kapa‘a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. and burial will follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
