Best wishes to Dale Masumura who retired as a teacher from Wilcox School Thursday (how do they figure last days in the middle of the week?). And, congratulations and best wishes to Amanda Arakaki who will take her place – it only seemed like yesterday that I remember seeing Amanda among the throngs of Wilcox faces at May Day and other school functions. Rachel Watarai has been quite busy – she was even helping at the Fore! Education (Roy Yamashita at King Auto has been getting the treatment from his fellow golfers – now, when are we going to see Joey Tavares in action?) tournament in Po‘ipu on Sunday. Was nice to see Dan (and Norma who babysat the taiko) Kunimoto have a break from his Puakea GC duties so he could join the Taiko Kaua‘i for their demonstration at Wilcox School, too. Congratulations to Wilcox School for being the top lei collector in the state for the Memorial Day services, and congratulations to Jeff Connelly and the PMRF Security Detachment for being one of the top donors for the Kaua‘i Food Bank program…Kelvin Moniz kept us waiting, but how was he to know “the Skipper” was not in his office?… Thank heaven for Thomas Clements and Keiko Carveiro for knowing how everything works! Hats off to Ted Inouye and all the conservation districts for their efforts, and congratulations to this year’s conservation winners, Grove Farm and the Lihu‘e Gateway Beautification Project.
OK – ‘nuff said – it’s off to check out Nicole Lucidarme and her coconut entry at the Coconut Festival…
no volleyball, cross country is on O‘ahu, lessee now…I guess it’s off to visit Roy Nishida and the Sassy magazine dance (thanks to KPD’s Dan Miyamoto for that heads-up) at Kilohana.
