Two KIF seasons kick off today

Get ready for the 2004 openers of the KIF cross-country and bowling seasons.
The running starts at 9 a.m. at Kula High and Intermediate School in Kilauea with a Quad meet, where all schools will be participating.
Then on October 2 is the OIA State Individual on O‘ahu. The Kaua‘i contingent head to Kaua‘i High School for the second quad meet on October 9.
Waimea High School hosts the meet on October 16 and the runners shift gears to Island School on October 23 at the last quad meet of the year.
The KIF meet is being held at Kapa‘a High School on October 30. This year’s cross-country state meet is on the Big Island, hosted by Hawai‘i Prep Academy (HPA). The state meet happens on November 12.
The bowling balls will be rolling at Lihu‘e Lanes today at 10 a.m. On October 2, the matches continue at 10 a.m., but on Oct. 9, 16, and 23, the contests begin at 1 p.m. The last match of the season on Oct. 30, starts at 10 a.m.
This year, the bowling state tournament will be held on Kaua‘i at Lihu‘e Lanes on November 11-12.
At 3 p.m. today, you should also check out KIF volleyball action at the Clem Gomes Gymnasium in Waimea, as Kapa‘a faces Waimea.
Movie stars Kaua‘i surfers
On Tuesday, Sept. 28, Kilauea Theatre will be featuring a new surf movie, called “Tamba TV.” It stars Andy and Bruce Irons, Dustin Barca, Tin Tin Pu‘ulei, Keala Kennelly, and much more. “Tamba TV” will show at 6 and 8 p.m. with live music in between. There will also be Tamba giveaways and it’ll be fun for the entire family.

Fall race series continues at Nawiliwili
Nawiliwili Yacht Club’s Fall Race Series continues on September 30 and Oct. 7. First flag for the two races will be at 5 p.m. The public is invited to view the race from the harbor jetty, as well as to attend the after race party at the Nawiliwili Yacht Club in the Small Boat Harbor.
A community grill will be available for grilling your own food.
Plus, NYC hot dogs and beverages will be available for a small donation.

Baseball training and development
The Kawaihau Community Little League will be accepting registration applications for its upcoming Training and Development and Introduction to Baseball season.
Players must be born between Aug. 1, 1995-July 31, 2000, to be eligible to play. Registration will start on Sept. 28-Oct. 8 at the New Town Park Food Booth on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4-6:30 p.m. and Fridays from 4-5 p.m.

Fore education golf tourney
Fore! Education will be sponsoring the second annual golf tournament with proceeds to benefit Kaua‘i public schools, students, teachers, administrators, and PTSA organizations in activities related to building capacity in leadership excellence. The golf tournament will be held at the Po‘ipu Bay Golf Course on Sunday, Sept. 26.
