LIHU‘E – Alex Brown notched a hat trick (three goals) to lead the Motiv-8 to a 5-1 showing over the Lihu‘e Lightning Sunday as the Kaua‘i Soccer Association (KSA) entered its second week of an eight-week season at the North Vidinha fields.
The all-girl Lightning overcame bouts with a mid-game rain squall, but couldn’t overcome the coordinated effort and power of the all-boys Motiv-8 despite strong midfield defensive efforts led by Chauncie Garcia-Brown and Kelsie Cadiente on the right side.
Lightning goalie Kamalu Hornos demonstrated her exceptional goalie skills with numerous saves in the second half before succumbing to the Motiv-8 pressure.
Logan Domingo and Taylor Langstaff added to Brown’s hat trick for the final Motiv-8 math.
Garcia-Brown moved in for the sole Lightning score.
Next Sunday’s games will be played at the Wailua Houselots Park starting at 12:30 p.m.
