Cheetahs outrun Tygers
WAILUA – Despite strong defensive play led by Kai‘imi Moniz, the Green Tygers succumbed to the persistent force of the the Cheetah Girls, 9-0 in the Region 941 AYSO Girls Under 8 game played at the Wailua Houselots Park Saturday morning.
The referee noted that mercy ruling games normally go ten points, but with each of the Cheetah Girls notching a goal, the game was called just a few minutes short of regulation after the Cheetah Girls erupted for six goals in the second half.
Moniz combined with the goalie efforts of Cameo Shimabukuro and Hannah Wyatt to keep the Cheetah Girls contained to just three first-half scores, but the tiring Green Tygers’ defense wilted under the torrid shot-on-goal attempts put up by the Cheetahs in the second half.
First-half scores were put up by Toloai Ana Carvalho, Brittiny Elmore, and Haylell Sheldon with Sheldon notching her second score of the day in the third quarter.
Corrina Garton, Harmony Graziaro, Cassie Wilson, Joni Hashizumi, and Alanna Bauman accounted for the second half Cheetah Girls’ scoring.
