Friday at 5 p.m. is the deadline for anglers to sign up for the 32nd Annual Lihu‘e Fishing Supply’s Jackpot Shoreline Fishing Contest.
A special prize of a $75 gift certificate will be awarded to the Largest Barracuda during the weigh-in that will take place on Sunday, Sept. 19 between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at the Kalena Park .
The kaku was considered to be a good luck fish for one of the store’s founders.
Categories that anglers can compete in include papio (under 10 pounds), Ulua (10 pounds and over), Oio, Moi, Other (under 5 pounds), and Other (5 pounds and over).
There will also be a Freshwater category which includes both large and smallmouth bass, tucunare, and trout. A one time fee of $10 covers the freshwater entry.
Entries into any of the saltwater divisions will be $5 per category. Fishing will commence at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17 and closes with the weigh-in Sunday.
Application forms are available at Lihu‘e Fishing Supply on Kalena Street in Lihu‘e.
