LIHU‘E – Skye Shimabukuro notched a hat trick and added an assist as the Chicks Who Rip blanked the KSC – North, 4-0 in the Girls Under 14 matches that heralded the start of the Kaua‘i Soccer Association (KSA) season Sunday.
Twenty-one teams will play through an eight-week season before entering playoffs, the weekly games starting at 12:30 p.m. on either the North Vidinha, or Wailua Houselots fields.
The Hawaiian Heat and Lihu‘e Boyz battled to a 2-2 stalemate in the Under 8 game while the Lihu‘e Cougars soared over Motiv-8 Ha‘aheo, 6-1 in the first of two U10 games.
Motiv-8 Kilakila edged the Tornadoes, 3-2 in the second U10 contest.
Motiv-8 Po‘okela was a point better than Westside United, 4-3 in the first of three U12 games, Po‘okela being able to fend off strong efforts from the Westsiders.
Motiv-8 controlled KSC-Imua, 7-1 in the U12 division with the Lihu‘e Cougars rounding out the U12 games with a 7-4 win over the Arsenals.
Motiv-8 continued their dominance on the fields as the Motiv-8 (B) controlled Motiv-8 (A), 13-7 in the BU-16 matchup.
KSC-East rounded out the day’s scores with a 5-3 win over Motiv-8 Kupono in the GU16/18 division.
Ashlee Jiminez swept in from the middle to take the pass from Shimabukuro who effectively tied up the KSC goalie for the final score in the GU 14 game.
This week’s games move to the Wailua Houselots Park with the first contests starting at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
