Praise Concert 6, a free concert featuring Oceanic Time Warner Cable’s popular local comedy team “Da Braddahs,” Kaua‘i boy Chucky Boy Chock, composer Bruce Gibson of Dallas, Texas, former Mrs. Hawaii Pohai Au, Tammey Faford, Alan Van Zee, the Kauai Bible Orchestra, and more, will be held Friday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m.
at the Lihu‘e Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall.
“This year’s concert will be different than previous years as we sway tradition and feature comedy for the second half of the event,” said concert organizer Chucky Boy Chock.
The first half of the concert will include praise and worship, and latter half the comedy team of “Da Braddahs,” made up of James Roache and Tony Silva, in their first performance on Kaua‘i.
“We welcome all of our brothers and sisters in Christ, as well as non-believers, to join us for an evening of great music and laughter,” organizers said.
Roache and Silva, are known for their comedic style called “Buckaloose,” a word coined to describe local humor made for local people by local people.
Their television show, “Da Braddahs and Friends,” airs on Oceanic Time Warner Cable channel OC16.
They have released four videos statewide, and their first comedy CD is available now. Roache grew up in Waipahu, and Silva grew up in Nanakuli, O‘ahu.
Chock, an accomplished musician, singer, and songwriter, has been writing and performing for more than two decades. Once a prominent figure on the contemporary Hawaiian music scene in the 1970s, he released six albums before transitioning into the Christian-recording industry.
Chock is the songwriting talent behind many of Hawai‘i’s favorite melodies, and his work has been recorded by Kapena and the late Israel Kamakawiwo‘ ole, and nominated twice for the prestigious Na Hoku Hano Hano Awards.
Praise Concert 6 will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept.
10.
