KAPA‘A — The Kaua‘i Motocross Riders Association’s 50th
Annual Labor Day Races are scheduled for September 4-5 at Wailua Motocross Track.
The event is open to the public. Registration for riders ends Friday,
September 3. The registration cost is $45 for the first class entered, and
$20 for each additional class. A late registration fee applies to those who register the day of the event. The spectator/gate fee is $5. Gates open each day at 6:00 a.m.
The weekend event begins Friday at 6:30 p.m. with a riders meeting at thetrack. Rider check-in begins at 6:45 a.m. each morning. An awards banquet concludes the weekend Sunday at Wailua Motocross Track shortly after all racing is complete.
“We are pleased to help celebrate and support local riders at a localtrack,” said Tom Leighton, manager of Two Wheels. “Motocross is a great sport because it is an event for the entire family. We hope everyone will come out and enjoy the fun.”
On Saturday races include 50cc Beginner, 50cc Advance, 65cc Beginner, 65cc Advance, 85cc Beginner, 85cc Advance, Mini Wahine, Wahine, 125 Novice, 250 Novice, Fast 50/10-15 Stock, Fast 50/10-15 Modified, Quads C, Quads D, Quads Wahine and Quads Keiki.
Highlighting the Saturday line-up is the mystery race called: “Hare and Hounds.”
The location of this off-road race is not revealed to riders until the rider’s meeting Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. Riders may choose trail “A” or trail “B.” Classes within each trail include 0-200cc, 201-250cc, 251cc-Open, Veterans for the “A” trail, and Masters for the “B” trail. Rider’s check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday at the announced location.
Sunday races include 125 Amateur, 125 Expert, 250 Amateur, 250 Expert, Veterans, Masters, Flat A, Flat B, Quads A, Quads B, Fast 50/16 and up Stock, and Fast 50/16 and up Modified.
