AIf KC Gaitos can do it, I guess I can, too.
KC was out with Coach Brian Inouye collecting tickets at the San Clemente/Kaua‘i High School football game Friday, then, early Saturday, was out coaching the AYSO U8 Boys Blue Dragons (how come their jerseys are gray?) in Kalawai before heading out to Waimea for her own game.
And, it didn’t end there because she had to go back to the fair to help out at the Lihu‘e Pop Warner malasada booth.
Kiare Alejandro and Britney Gardner were also on hand at the Saturday soccer, and if Tamalyn Hasegawa wasn’t doing goalie duty for the Lihu‘e “B” coed team, she’d be coaching her team, too! And, basketball is still alive as Ron Garlie (he was at the fair Friday night) said they’re getting into the playoffs for the men’s league.
Meanwhile, coach Maynard Shea made connection with Lyle Honda of the National Junior Basketball league, and about two dozen players and coaches took advantage of a one-day “camp” at Kalaheo Saturday. If coach “Bobo” Ishikawa didn’t have fair duty, he’d be there, too! Sgt. Larry Ratliff of the Army National Guard got some help to man his booth at the fair, and Kehau Kato was putting in some mean time at the Air National Guard booth…hm-m-m, midnight duty on Thursday, work TGI Friday, back to the midnight shift Friday night…and then, drive all the way home to Kekaha! Ricky Tokunaga had the right idea at the Friday football game – go across, get the plate lunches from Laureen Naumu-Balocan in between the games.
And, speaking of football, Charlene Quinones has quite a lineup of logowear for this year – jackets, athletic shorts, tee-shirts, and even a computer bag! And, don’t forget the Red Raider cookbook, too! OK, Sept. 10 – 5 p.m. JV!
