Godfrey ‘Kaipo’ Kealalio II
Godfrey “Kaipo” Kealalio II was born on June 1, 1947, in Honolulu.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan, daughter Kiilani Kealalio-Puli (Makaena), sons Kaipo and James, grandson Treyton, brothers Leroy (Lois), Lawrence “Sooky” (Christine), Scott (Lorraine); sister Faye (Patrick) Umalla, and many family and friends.
Originally from Aiea, Kaipo moved to Kaua‘i in 1983 to become the District Executive for the Boy Scouts of America,. He was a Vietnam veteran, member of the Rotary Club of Kapa‘a, coach of many community and high school sports, and contributed to many other nonprofit organizations.
Kaipo belived in “giving back” to the community by instilling good morals and values in children because they would become the leaders of tomorrow.
“Uncle” Kaipo was known for his big smile and for making everyone feel like family. He will be missed by many and will live in our hearts forever.
Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29 at Borthwick Mortuary on O‘ahu, with service at 2 p.m. Aloha attire is suggested and that flowers be omitted.
Services on Kaua‘i will be Tuesday, Aug. 31, at Vidinha Stadium from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with services to start at 7 p.m.
