Have you ever wanted to start your own family history (formally known as genealogy) and didn’t know how to do it?
Or maybe you did start and need to know where and what vital records can be researched? Now is your chance to find out.
All are welcomed to come and sit in on a 50-minute class taught by genealogist Fran MacFarland. “How Do I Start My Family History?” will be held at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., and “How Do I Find Vital Records” is at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., on Monday, Sept. 6, at Kukui Grove Center.
There is no charge for any of the sessions, titled “Ho‘oilina, On Leaving a Legacy.”
Kupuna and Kaua‘i genealogists will also be on hand to talk story and share mele. Come and learn mini-scrapbooking and take home a memento, organizers said.
Kamehameha Schools officials will also be on hand to register qualifying Native Hawaiians for the schools’ Hawaiian Ancestry Registry.
Those interested should bring valid birth certificates to complete photo identification.
