Talk about hard working — Rosie Bukoski and her ‘ohana just recently wrapped up the Bukoski family reunion, but there she was at Sunday’s final Kauai All-Girl Rodeo Association event (the cheeseburger hit the spot!) in Po‘ipu. Recently, Rosie served up over 950 meals (she can’t even remember how many meals she served up at the Carlsbad Goodwill Tourney!) at the Aloha 299 event; Shelley Teraoka distributed over 1,500 American flags, which meant there were at least a thousand people in attendance. And, Rosie isn’t through, yet — mark your calendars for the Oct. 12th weekend when she goes out with a bang — her final softball tournament in Koloa (you can even enjoy the ‘Rosie’s Palace’). Speaking of hitting the spot, much mahalo to the Sugai ‘ohana who was helping out Wanda Aki (Aloha Festivals’ queen!) Saturday, who made sure the Camper knew about Sunday’s rodeo where Tom Tannery was in attendance and even helped rake during the barrels event. Wallis Punua had his hands full with the Saturday investiture, but that didn’t stop him from showing up Sunday when the Kaua‘i All-Island Marching Band (was that AJ Silva on drums?) hit the road for the first time (does the road outside Vidinha Stadium count?). Liz Hahn was there with her camera, but Ted Chihara had the best theory for watching the ‘road closed’ sign — find a shade tree! Unfortunately, Suzette Kane and her crew were at the intersection, so no trees. Larry McIntosh was there, as was John Riggle of Kamehameha Schools and all of the schools’ band and choral directors.
And, after all that — strawberries and creme (even got to see Starbucks’ manager Larry Hawelu do his paperwork). OK — ‘nuff said — it’s off to the Kauai County Farm Bureau Fair!
