Hawai‘i picked third, Chang at top of WAC
RENO, Nev. — Boise State, which hasn’t lost a conference football game since 2001, is the favorite again to win its third straight Western Athletic Conference title, with Fresno State close behind, a media poll released Wednesday said.
Hawaii is next, followed by Tulsa and Nevada. Hawaii quarterback Timmy Chang and Boise State linebacker Andy Avalos are the preseason picks for players of the year.
Koloa Plantation Days tennis tourney results
The Koloa Plantation Days Tennis Tournament was a class doubles event with about 30 teams competing on July 24 at Kiahuna.
In the men’s 8.0 division, Kyle Barrett and Ed Kane defeated Herb Noe and Otsuji, 6-2, 6-4. The men’s 7.0 division went to Klaus Keil and Clyde Fujikawa, who beat the team of Michael Vavrek and Jim Jordan, 6-3, 6-4. Ryan Rowland and Russell Rowland were the top performers in the men’s 6.0 division with a win over Drew Vento and Jim Granam, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.
