To celebrate National Ice Cream Month this July, Hawai‘i Cold Stone Creamery locations will host an ice cream cake Social to benefit the Special Olympics. The sure-to-be-sweet event is scheduled for Thursday, July 29, 5 to 8 p.m. at both Kaua‘i Cold Stone Creamery locations.
Kaua‘i residents and visitors are invited to try a free slice of ice cream cake while store staff are accepting donations for the Special Olympics. The ice cream cake that will be available consists of layers of delicious devil’s food cake, sweet cream ice cream, Oreo cookies and chocolate shavings wrapped in a rich chocolate ganache. During the ice cream social, the full menu of ice cream creations will be available as well. Special Olympics is an organization that developed from a grass-roots movement, which provides year-round sports training and athlete competition to children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics programs are in place in more than 200 programs in 150 countries around the world.
Cold Stone Creamery is an independently- owned franchise system headquartered in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Neither soft-serve nor hard packed, Cold Stone Creamery’s secret recipe for smooth and creamy ice cream is made fresh daily in each store, then customized by combining candy, fruit and other “mix-ins” on a frozen granite stone.
On Kaua‘i, there are two Cold Stone Creamery locations, in Lihu‘e at Kukui Grove Center, and in Kapa‘a at Kaua‘i Village hHopping Center. Owners Don and Barbie Taylor have plans to open a third, South Shore location soon.
