For the first time ever, a boys relay team is going to states. Mokihana Aquatics’ swimmers Tyson Chihara, Kyson Gusukuma, Kelsey Tanaka, and Randy Umetsu are entered in five relay events at the state swim meet.
In addition to the relays, these boys will be swimming in individual events. Standouts Keyah-Leilani Agoot and Matthew Holzman will also be competing at the state meet that runs from June 10-13.
Mokihana Aquatics is proud of their state-qualified swimmers. Qualified, but not competing at this meet are Keenan Anaya, Kaitlyn Jarry, Kelsey O’Connor, and Katelyn Umetsu.
Mokihana Aquatics coach Orlando Anaya thinks the team is going to perform well at the next level.
“It’s a thrill for the kids and I’m very proud of them,” Anaya said.
The team heads off to O‘ahu today and hope to bring back some hardware from the state meet.
